Podcast: Dart Owner-Operator Pat Wortham Transports The Wall That Heals Memorial
03 Feb 2017
In late January, Dart owner operator Pat Wortham gladly accepted a load assignment to transport The Wall That Heals Vietnam Memorial from Minnesota to Florida for an event in Vero Beach. The Wall That Heals is a half-scale model of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. In addition to carrying the traveling replica to its first public event of 2017, Pat had an opportunity to work with members of the staff from Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
The Dart Network Podcast marked the company’s honor of participating in The Walls That Heals program with a special two-part interview series. In the opening segment, the Dart Network Podcast welcomes Tim Tetz, the Director of Outreach for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. During his interview, Tim shared the history behind the selection of the original design of the Vietnam Memorial Wall and its placement on the National Mall. Tim, who was onsite with Pat in Vero Beach, also told the Dart Network Podcast about the development of the traveling replica, The Wall That Heals. Hear the interview with Tim.
The second segment in this Dart Network Podcast series focuses on Pat’s experience in moving The Wall That Heals. Our interview with Pat marks his third visit to the podcast. We were first introduced to Pat following the Veteran’s Day event when he became one of the three Dart owner operators to lease an eye-catching military-themed truck. In December, Pat went from Maine to a national cemetery in North Dakota as part of Wreaths Across America.
A veteran of the Iraq War, Pat deeply valued the opportunity to connect with the Vietnam Veterans community in working with The Wall That Heals. As he shared through the Dart Network Podcast, Pat was overwhelmed by the response he received throughout the trip, especially the reception he experienced during his arrival in Vero Beach.
