Dart Transit Company, a premier leader in transportation solutions, recently teamed up with the St. Christopher TruckerDevelopment and Relief Fund at the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Kentucky. Dart unveiled their latest event at the show: a “Cash Catch” booth – where participants try to catch $1,000 cash blown around by a fan affixed to the booth. The lucky participants that were chosen at random in a drawing, had 60 seconds to collect as much cash as time would allow. At the end of the round, all of the cash leftover in the booth was donated to St. Christopher’s.
The Dart Network Podcast recently made a visit to the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. While at the event, the Podcast caught up with Jeff Finkel of Dart’s Recruiting Department. Jeff joined Dart in 2012 as a company driver and he became an owner-operator before accepting an opportunity to take a position as a member of the driver recruiting team at Dart.
Justin Doolen, an owner-operator in the Dart Network, recently sat down with the Dart Network Podcast to discuss the thrill of seeing one of his photo submissions become a part of the 2017 Dart Calendar. Justin’s photo, taken at a customer location in Baltimore last spring, is the featured picture for May.
In late January, Dart owner operator Pat Wortham gladly accepted a load assignment to transport The Wall That Heals Vietnam Memorial from Minnesota to Florida for an event in Vero Beach. The Wall That Heals is a half-scale model of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. In addition to carrying the traveling replica to its first public event of 2017, Pat had an opportunity to work with members of the staff from Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
Dart driver Shawna Froehlich has earned a number of honors during her first year on the road. Last summer, Shawna earned a position as a finalist among the Rookie of the Year nominations for the Truckload Carriers Association. This month, Shawna was named Member of the Month by Women In Trucking. The Dart Network Podcast caught up with Shawna during a break her busy schedule to talk about the highlights from what has been a memorable beginning to her truck driving career.
Over the weekend of December 17th, the volunteers with the Wreaths Across America program placed more than 1.2 million wreaths at the gravesites of those who dedicated their lives to military service. Participating as a carrier in the program for the seventh consecutive year, the Dart Network was quite visible in a campaign that involved a host of carriers working with the Truckload Carriers Association to move more than 400 truckloads this year.
Joshua Channel, Mark Bouchard and Pat Wortham – the three owner-operators who were presented with the keys to new military-themed leased trucks during a ceremony on Veterans Day at Dart – participated in the Wreaths Across America program. Not only did Joshua, Mark and Pat have a mural of the Marine Iwo Jima Memorial on their trucks, but they also were pulling military-themed trailers with the message “Freedom is Fragile” displayed on the side.
The Safety Department recently added two new segments to the Dart Network Podcast feed. With the icy road conditions that can accompany January, February and March around the country, Safety spent some time talking with the Dart Network Podcast about black ice and other hazards that company drivers and owner-operators can encounter on highways and non-interstate roads.
